Current tenants
More Than a Roof’s mission is to provide a transformative housing experience by welcoming diverse people into community who will find a place to call home, and support and inspire their neighbourhoods.
Our team’s dedication to the work flows from a deeply rooted faith base and the Mennonite roots of our founding board, and is grounded in the belief that we are called to more. True faith results in responsible acts of compassion toward those in need, regardless of race, religion, orientation, ethnicity or nationality, and is expressed through social justice, mercy and serving humbly.
We believe our communities are made better by the people that live in them, so thank you for choosing More Than a Roof. We hope your experience is one of acceptance and transformation as we strive to empower all our tenants to be and do more than they could have before joining our community.
Do something meaningful
Interested in volunteering?
Volunteering is the original model that drove the creation of MCC Housing more than three decades ago and is a tradition we follow as a society today. In 1984 a small group of dedicated volunteers wanted to address the growing issue of homelessness in BC. Today the society still operates with a ‘volunteer mindset’ and board members, staff and tenants, as well as others in the community, contribute their time and talents as we create healthy community together.
In our downtown buildings, tenants volunteer to run the libraries and More Than A Store, they clean elevators and hallways, they keep the gardens growing fresh and beautiful.
In our family communities, adults and children help keep gardens pretty, sidewalks clean, grass watered and courtyards swept. They want to see their homes taken care of and they participate to make this happen. Our on site managers model care and commitment and continually lead by example. Check in with your manager to explore how you can contribute!
